Stir-fried beef with bitter melon recipe

This dish is a popular Cantonese dish that is made with beef and bitter melon. It is usually served with rice and stir-fried vegetables. This recipe is very simple, you can try it yourself at home.

The beef is tender and juicy while the bitter melon is a bit tangy.

Not many young kids like this dish because of the bitterness from the bitter melons. When I was a kid, I didn’t like bitter melons. But, my mother likes making this dish. After years, I began to like eating this dish. Life will always be both – bitter and sweet. Living well means accepting that both are teaching you.

step 1

Beef + soy sauce + raw flour,  marinate for ten minutes

Cut the bitter gourd in half and remove the scoop and seeds

Boil water in a wok,  add some oil and salt, blanch bitter melon in boiling water for 2 minutes

Put cornstarch and soy sauce in a bowl, add a little water and mix well

Normally, it is better to put some fermented black beans.



1.When blanch bitter melon, add sugar to keep the bitter melon umami and remove bitterness.

2.After the beef is sliced, wash it with clean water. This step is to remove the blood inside and reduce the fishy smell.

3.The process of stir-fry requires a high fire, and it is best to finish it within a minute. If you fry for too long, the bitter gourd will be more bitter.

Because it contains certain compounds, it is used to treat many conditions including diabetes mellitus (type II), high blood pressure (hypertension), heart disease and kidney stones. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can be helpful for arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Avoid Eating Bitter Gourd Right After Consuming Mangoes

Stay away from bitter gourd right after eating mangoes. It can cause nausea, vomiting, and trouble breathing.
